We love the second Frozen movie and decided to make a fun Frozen 2 art activity.
This Frozen 2 art project is a fun way to introduce kids to watercolors and surprise them too! They’ll be shocked when Frozen snowflakes magically appear on the paper!

Frozen 2 Snowflake Art Project

One of the best things about this watercolor art project is that is amazingly simple and only requires four supplies! You can’t get much easier than that!
Supplies
- Liquid watercolors
- Watercolor paper
- Paint brush
- White crayon
Directions
Use the white crayon to draw on Frozen style snowflakes all over the watercolor paper.
Use the paint brush and liquid watercolors in blue and purple to paint all over the paper and reveal the white snowflakes.
That’s it!
This watercolor resist art project is so simple but kids think it’s magical. Which of course, fits in perfectly with the Frozen 2 theme!
What Is Watercolor Resist?
Watercolor resist is very simple. It is simply the process of using a water resistant substance on dry watercolor paper before painting.
In this case the crayon wax resists the watercolor, which means it can’t adhere to the paper in those places. When you’ve finished painting the sheet, you’ll be able to clearly see all the spots where you created snowflakes!
It’s super simple, but really fun to see come to life.
How To Do Watercolor Resist With A Crayon
Since crayons are usually a common art supply you have at home, they’re great for doing watercolor resist projects.
For this Frozen 2 inspired craft, you’ll simply be making snowflakes all over the page.
If you want your child make the snowflakes as well, show them how easy it is to make simple snowflakes with intersecting lines.
We think it’s most fun for kids if an adult makes the snowflakes and they make them “magically” appear.
The only tricky part of making these snowflakes it not being able to see where you’ve drawn with the white crayon.
In order to get the best snowflake shapes, we drew a few lines, then held the paper at an angle to see the shape, then drew some more.
