Supplies

Directions

  1. Download the flashcard template and print out onto the white card stock. Cut out and round the corners.
  2. Trace your child’s handprint onto the red card stock and cut out. Use the scissors to round the bottom of the handprint and cut out a small section to make it appear more like the top of an apple.
  3. Draw a leaf shape onto the green card stock and cut out.
  4. Cut out a stem shape from the brown card stock.
  5. Assemble your handprint apple by gluing the leaf near the bottom of the stem. Arrange your child’s handprint with bottom of the palm facing upward and the fingers pointing down. Next, glue the leaf and stem combo to the back of the handprint apple.
  6. Take your completed handprint apple and glue onto the middle of the flashcard.

You’re done!

This is such a fun and simple handprint craft for the back to school season.

Handprint Apple Flashcard Template Notes

Before you download the free flashcard template, let me explain what’s included. First, there are two different versions.

One is in full color with blue letter “Aa” at the top and the green colored “apple” on the bottom.

The other is a black and white version. This one is ideal if you’re wanting to save ink or if you’re using them with a bunch of kids (like in the classroom or a daycare setting).

For each type of template (black and white and full color), there are 2 different sizes. There is a small size and a large size.

We created 2 different sizes so you can find the one that fits your child’s hand better. In our example above, we used the full color smaller version for my 4 year old’s hands. If your child is older and has a larger hand, you may need to use the larger version.

We suggest when you go to print the template you choose the “actual size” option instead of the “fit to page” option.

Ways To Use This Handprint Craft

Of course you can use this apple flashcard craft any way you’d like, but if you’re stuck on how to use it, we have a few suggestions for you.

First and most common, you can simply make this craft at home or in the classroom for back to school! It’s an easy and fun way to get back into the groove of school and focus on learning and crafting.

We also think this flashcard craft would make a cute first day of school sign. Just snap a picture of it on the morning of your child’s first day back to school and save it for future memories!

Another way to use this craft is when learning about the letter A. If you do letter of the week crafts, this is a cute activity to do after learning the letter A. It’s also simple and quick.

Finally, we think this craft is perfectly suited to give to your child’s teacher for teacher appreciation week or for an end of year card. Just make the flashcard, then flip it over and write a special note to your child’s teacher.
