Make this cute handprint bunny craft for Easter, springtime, or when reading about rabbits!

Since spring is almost here, we’re beginning to share all of our favorite handprint Easter crafts.

Kids think it’s magical to see their hands transform into these cute bunnies, and parents love preserving their little ones’ handprints for a lifetime!

That makes this craft one of the best activities for kids to make for springtime or Easter.

We can’t seem to make enough handprint crafts for kids, but this one takes the cuteness to a whole new level!

Your kids can use any colored cardstock they want, so each bunny is unique and special. If you’re doing this craft for Easter, we’d suggest sticking to a pastel color or the traditional white Easter bunny.

You can do the inner ear in the color of your choice, but darker shades of the bunny’s main fur color look best.

However your child decides to make this bunny craft, we’re sure they’ll love it!

Supplies

Directions

First things first, let’s download the bunny template. Now, pick out some colorful card stock or construction paper. Choose your favorite colors, maybe pastel shades, for a springtime feel!

Once you’ve printed the template onto your chosen paper, let’s get the kids’ cutting skills to work and cut out all the bunny parts.

Next up, have the kids give their bunny some little cheeks. Place them just below where the eyes will go and secure them with a spot of glue, one on each side. It’s like giving your bunny a cute blush!

Trace your child’s hand on some construction paper that matches the color of the bunny’s head. Do it twice so that we can make two bunny ears. Once you’re done tracing, grab those scissors again and cut out those handprints!

See those cute little inner ear pieces we cut out? Take some glue and stick it right onto the bottom part of your child’s handprint cutouts.

Time to put those bunny ears to work! Grab more glue and stick the handprints with the fingers pointing up on the back of the bunny’s head and glue it down.

Time for a cute little nose! Glue a pink pom-pom onto the bunny’s face. You can use a glue dot for this. It sticks well and won’t mess up the fluffy pom-pom.

If you prefer, a glue stick works, too, but watch out for pom-pom fluff, as it tends to get everywhere.

Let’s give our bunny some whiskers! Twist three white pipe cleaners together. Once you’ve got them twisted, put a glue dot under the bunny’s nose and stick those whiskers on.

Want shorter whiskers? No problem! Just cut them to the length you and your little one like best.

Adaptations & Substitutions

If you stumbled upon this craft and don’t have pom poms or pipe cleaners, don’t worry! Instead, you can draw on a nose and whiskers with some markers.

Using markers is also a simple way to reduce the cost of this craft, although it’s already quite inexpensive. It also helps save time when you have many kids doing this craft at once.

If you’re making this craft with several young children (like in a daycare or preschool setting), we have a few tips to help it go smoothly.

First, cut out all the pieces and have them ready to go. This is especially recommended for children who don’t have proficient scissors skills yet.

Second, we suggest having all the pipe cleaners cut to size and pre-twisted. This way all the kids need to do is glue all the pieces together.

Don’t forget that you’ll have to help the children trace and cut their handprints out, so plan the time for that accordingly.

Lastly, we suggest you use only glue sticks and not glue bottles. In our experience, young children either have too much difficulty squeezing glue out of the bottles or squeeze too hard and end up with a giant mess!

Either way, glue sticks that dry clear solve the problem and cause less clean-up in the end.
