Supplies
- White card stock or construction paper
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Pencil
- Zebra handprint template (download form located at the end of this page)
Directions
Download the zebra template, print and cut out the head and tail.
Use a pink marker to draw in the inner ear on the zebra’s head. Use the same pink marker to draw two small cheeks underneath the eyes.
Use a gray marker to fill in the muzzle area of the zebra’s face, like in the picture.
Take the black marker and draw in the stripes all over the zebra’s body and legs. You can make the stripes all on one side or alternate on each side. Fill in the stripes with the black marker.

Continue using the black marker to draw in the stripes on the zebra’s tail. On one tail we made solid stripes along the entire length and on the other we did pointed stripes. Do whichever one you like better.
One quick tip is to do this before cutting the tail out from the paper. It may be a little easier for small hands to do it that way.
Assemble the zebra handprint by gluing the head to the thumb and the tail to the back of the zebra, along the pinky side.
Isn’t that such a simple craft?
We think this craft could work for a variety of ideas including z is for zebra crafts, zoo animal themes or wild animal crafts!
And since it’s just using paper it’s an easy, cheap and fun craft that works just as well at home, at the library or in the classroom.
You could even make it part of a fun crafting afternoon by reading a book about zebras first!
