How To Make 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

In a large microwave safe bowl, combine the mini marshmallows and butter. Microwave for 1-2 minutes until the butter is melted and the marshmallows start to puff up.

Stir the mixture thoroughly with a rubber spatula and then mix in the Rice Krispies cereal. Let the cereal mixture cool in the bowl.

Microwave the candy melts in a bowl for 3-4 minutes at 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.

Dip the top of the cones in the melted chocolate and lightly shake to get rid of any excess.

Immediately sprinkle the nonpareils over the melted chocolate to coat. Place in the freezer to harden.

Using your hands, scoop out a portion of the Rice Krispie mix and make into the shape of an ice cream scoop. Press into the candy coated sugar cone. (You can spray nonstick cooking spray on your hands to keep the cereal mixture from sticking to your hands.)

Top each Rice Krispie scoop with the larger sprinkles like festive star-shapes, being sure to press them firmly into the Rice Krispie “ice cream”.

Repeat for each cone.
