Don’t you think koalas are one of the cutest animals on the planet? We sure do, so we made this easy koala card craft for kids!

Homemade cards are such a sweet and sentimental idea for kids to make and parents and grandparents just love receiving them.

Besides being sentimental they’re also easy enough for kids to make and cheap since we’re only using paper.

This craft is simple enough for preschoolers, kindergarteners and elementary children. You can make them at home or in the classroom.

Check out our directions below or watch our step by step video tutorial to learn how to make one too!

Supplies

  • Colored card stock (in gray, black and pink)
  • Markers (in black and pink)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Koala template (download form located at the end of this page)

Directions

We’ve included a free printable template, so make sure you grab your copy and download it.

Print off the pages on the colored card stock indicated and cut out the pieces you need. If you’re making this craft with more than one child, we were able to fit two koala heads to one page.

Take the black koala nose and glue it in between the koala’s face. We think it looks better to have the pointier side facing down.

Use your pink marker to draw two rosy cheeks on either side of the koala’s face. If you’re using thin paper, make sure you don’t let the marker bleed through to the inside part of the card.

You can put a piece of white card stock inside the koala card while you color if you need to!

Use the black marker to draw two eyebrows above the eyes. We think this looks much cuter when you add the eyebrows, but you don’t really need to if you want to skip this step.

Take the pink inner ears and glue them to the gray outer ears of the koala. Alternatively, if you want to skip cutting out the inner ears, you can also use a marker to draw in the inner ear.

Once you’re done making the ears, take each ear and glue it to the backside of the card.

Now all you need to do is write a punny message on the inside!

We love how these little guys turned out! We think these homemade cards would make a perfect classroom craft with elementary children.

There aren’t very many pieces or difficult cutting, so you won’t have to worry about kids’ skill levels.

One of the best parts of making homemade cards is adding a silly pun on the inside.

The two koala puns we went with are:

  • You have the best koalaties!
  • Thanks for spending koala-ty time with me!

If you have any other puns, share them with us in the comments below.
