This nutcracker toilet paper roll craft is a fun way to make a festive Christmas decoration or even a prop to go along with reading the story.
This craft is a fun way for kids to make their own nutcrackers by just recycling an everyday item like a toilet paper roll! Along with the cardboard tube, you’ll just need some basic supplies like scissors and glue.
Our template makes this craft super easy, and there are two versions to choose from. Kids can color in the black-and-white version, or print it out on colored paper.
While the kids are making their nutcrackers, you can ask them what their favorite part of the story was. It’s a great way to make memories and work on their scissor skills and fine motor skills.

Toilet Paper Roll Nutcracker Craft

Supplies
- White cardstock
- Scissors
- Tape
- Crayons or markers (if using the color in version)
- Glue dot (optional)
- Nutcracker template (unlock the image at the end of the post to go to the download page)
Directions
Download the nutcracker template and print it out. If your child is using the black and white version, let them color in both nutcracker pieces.
Place tape along one end of the nutcracker’s body and tape it to the toilet paper roll. Next, place tape on the other end of the body, then wrap it around the toilet roll and tape it in place.
Use a glue dot (or glue or piece of tape) to attach the head to the top of the nutcracker’s body.
