This activity is the perfect blend of creativity and skill building. They’ll choose the colors of their bird, work on scissor skills, fine motor skills, and ultimately use their imaginations as they bring their parrot to life.
To get started on this exciting voyage, all you need is to download our free template. By using just a few simple materials, you can transform your home into a pirate’s cove of creativity!
Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Markers
- Ruler

Directions
Start by downloading the parrot template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this bird to life!
First, guide your child to glue the eye patch and the eye on the head part of the bird.
Next, encourage your child to draw two diagonal lines to the top portion of the eye patch. This will be the patch strap.
Now, help your child glue the black hat to the top portion of the bird’s head.
Position the skull and crossbones in the center of the hat and glue it in place.
Place the beak in between and just below the eyes and glue it in place.
Now, glue the feet to the lower portion of the body.
Glue the top part of the wings to the bottom part of the wings. Repeat for both sides.
Next, glue the wing feathers to the side of the body.
Finally, glue the tail to the back and bottom part of the body.

- Next, draw the leather strap above the patch that goes from one side of the parrot head to the other side of the head.
