It’s that time of year again! The leaves are changing, the air is cooler and school kids everywhere are getting ready to celebrate fall.
Fall is a great time of year to talk about scarecrows and think about the fun things that go along with this season.
One activity that kids can do at home or in the classroom is make this printable scarecrow craft.
This would be an easy project for any age since it comes with a free template that’s simple to use.
Besides being engaging and hands-on, it also helps children learn how to work with scissors and follow directions while having fun!

Scarecrow Project For Preschool

Supplies
- White cardstock
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Marker or crayons (if using the black and white version)
- Scarecrow template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)
Directions
Download the scarecrow template and print it out. If you’re using the color in version, color all of the pieces before you cut it out. If you’re using the full color version, cut out all the pieces.
Begin to assemble the scarecrow by gluing the upper body to the top of the legs.
Take the stick arms and glue them at the end and behind each of the arms. Place the scarecrow’s kerchief on the top, middle of the shirt and glue it down.
Next, glue the head to the top of the kerchief.
Position the straw hair on each side of the head and glue it in place.
Finish off the scarecrow by gluing the hat to the top of the head.
Cut out a small, thin rectangle to act as the post for the scarecrow to display on. Glue this to a plain piece of colored paper.
Take the completed scarecrow and glue it on top of the post.
Now your child has a cute scarecrow project that they can display on the fridge!
