Get the kids out of the cold and inside making this awesome winter themed puffy paint snowglobe craft.
Lately, we’ve been on a winter craft extravaganza!
Since Christmas is nearing an end, we want to replace all of our Christmas kids’ crafts with new and fun winter crafts for kids!
So far we’ve made a footprint penguin craft, played with a polar bear memory game, made a walrus arctic animal craft and last week, made a cool window cling snowman craft.
Today, we’re sharing how to make a winter snowglobe craft using cardstock and puffy paint!
Read on below to see just how easy it is to make with your kids or students.
Snowglobe Craft For Kids
This puffy paint craft is so much fun for kids to make and use, plus it’s so simple to whip up!
Supplies:
- Snowglobe template (form at the end of the post)
- Colored cardstock (in light blue, green, brown and multicolor)
- Elmer’s Glue
- Shaving cream
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Directions:
Make the homemade puffy paint by mixing equal parts shaving cream and Elmer’s glue in a bowl. An 1/8 cup of each was more than enough to cover 2 snowglobes. You’ll know it’s the perfect consistency when it looks like marshmallow fluff.
Print out the template for home or school depending on how many copies you need. Cut out all the pieces.
Use a small hole punch (I used a .5″ one) to make ornaments from colored cardstock to use on the tree.
Glue the large blue circle behind the brown base to make the snowglobe.
Position the green triangles to make the pine tree and add the ornaments and star to the top.
Use your paintbrush to brush on puffy paint snow onto the bottom of the snowglobe.
Dab the puffy paint all over the snowglobe to make snow flurries.
Let dry completely.
My kids enjoyed making these puffy paint snowglobes, but what they liked, even more, was feeling the puffy paint after it dried!
It’s so fun to poke and prod at since it dries squishy and foamy.

Does the puffy paint keep well in little containers or do they need to be used right away? Trying to make diy craft kits for my remote learning students this year.
I would say not so much. It will keep and you can paint with it, but it loses all of it’s “puffiness” if you don’t use it shortly after making it.
