We first saw it several years ago on Disney Jr. and my kids instantly loved it!

Since we love it so much, we decided to share this easy Spookley the square pumpkin craft with you. It’s another one of our favorite pumpkin crafts for kids.

If you have kids who love Spookley, you have to check out this simple craft and start a new holiday tradition with your kids. Read or watch the video below to see how simple this craft is to make with your family.

If you haven’t yet watched the movie, we definitely recommend it for families with young children. Although the movie is a little cheesy for adults, it has songs, characters, and lessons parents will love!

The movie revolves around Spookley the square pumpkin, who despite his best efforts, just can’t seem to fit in with all the other pumpkins around him.

He tries desperately to fit in, but the round pumpkins just continue to tease him. Spookley finds friends in an unlikely group that includes spiders, bats, and a scarecrow.

Ultimately Spookley’s unique shape allows him to save all the other pumpkins and the farm when a terrible storm strikes! Kids learn that being different isn’t bad like it seems and that they shouldn’t judge others based on their appearances.

Spookley Craft

One of the best things about this pumpkin craft is how little supplies you need for it! There’s no rushing to the store to get all the things you need to make it.

In fact, we’re betting you have everything you need in your craft closet already!

Supplies

Directions

Download the Spookley the square pumpkin template and print it out onto the corresponding colored card stock. Cut out the pieces and set them aside.

Begin assembling Spookley by gluing his leaf arms, one on each side, to the middle of the pumpkin body.

Glue the stem to the top of the pumpkin.

Make Spookley’s eyes by either gluing the template eyes on or by using large googley eyes.

Can you believe that’s all there is to it to make this paper craft?! It’s such a simple and quick Halloween craft for kids that they’re going to love.

Your kids will never get bored!

Pumpkin Craft Notes

There are a few things to consider before making this craft.

First, you have two options for Spookley’s eyes. Included in the free printable template are eyes that are blue and oval, which resemble Spookley’s eyes more closely.

We think these eyes make the square pumpkin look most like Spookley, but you can also use googly eyes. The googly eyes give the craft a more 3D appearance, so that may be more engaging for the kids.

Craft and Image

Another thing to think about is the dexterity of the children making this craft. If you want the kids to cut out the pieces all by themselves, we recommend making a more basic stem and perhaps skipping Spookley’s leaf arms altogether.

If the kids aren’t yet skilled enough to cut the pieces out themselves, just make sure you give enough time to cut out all the pieces ahead of time. It took us just about 2-3 minutes to cut out all the pieces to make one Spookley.
