Spring is a great time for kids to learn all about our helpful pollinators, bees! They can be seen buzzing from flower to flower doing a big job of collecting pollen and nectar this time of year.

Use this tissue paper bee craft to get kids interested in learning more about these amazing insects, and as a way for them to practice some important skills!

Tissue paper crafts are a great way for kids to hone their fine motor skills when they tear or scrunch up and glue the tissue paper onto the paper. This activity works the small muscles in their hands and improves pincer grasp and hand-eye coordination.

We’ve provided a free template for you to use with your kids. They’ll learn to follow directions as they place the different colored tissue paper in the correct place on the bee template. 

So print out the bee template, grab a few basic craft supplies, and get to the fun!

Honey Bee Craft

Supplies

• Tissue paper squares
• Colored cardstock or construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Bee template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the bee template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.

Begin to make the bee by spreading glue over a small section of the bee’s outline.

Glue the tissue paper squares along the glue. Repeat for each section, until the entire bee’s body is covered in tissue paper.

Create the mouth by gluing the tongue to the bottom of the mouth, then glue the completed mouth in the middle of the bee’s body, just above the top stripe.

Next, glue the eyes, one on each side of the bee’s head, above the mouth.

Take the cheeks and glue them on both sides of the mouth.

Finish off by trimming off the bottom part of the paper, along the dotted line.
