Supplies

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Colored card stock or construction paper
  • Kraft paper
  • White card stock
  • Glue stick
  • Tape
  • Glue dot
  • Black marker
  • Red jewel sticker (optional)

We love the way the red jewel sticker looks for this reindeer craft, but if you don’t have one, just substitute red card stock. In case you’re wondering, we picked up a small bag of these red jewel stickers in the Christmas section at Dollar Tree.

Directions

Download the reindeer craft template, print, and cut out the pieces.

Paper Roll Reindeer Template

Included in this download are two versions of the template. The first part has all of the template pieces on one page. This option works best for one or two kids. You’ll need to print this off on white card stock, then trace it onto the colored paper for each piece.

If you’ll be doing this craft in a group setting, like at daycare, the library, or in the classroom, we suggest you use the second part of the template.

The second part divides the pieces up by the colored paper they are to be printed on. When you use this option, you won’t need to retrace. You simply print it out on colored paper and cut it once. This is great for cutting down on prep time!

Reindeer Craft Notes

It may seem like a bit overkill to use a glue stick, tape, and glue dots for one craft, but we assure you this is the best option!

The glue dot is the only way we found to close the top of the toilet paper roll without it being visible. You could also try using liquid glue, but it will be messy and might not be strong enough to hold over time.

If you’re using thick card stock, which we think looks best for the craft, you’ll need the tape to secure the reindeer collar to the bottom of the tube.

We initially tried just using a glue stick, but since it is wrapped around the paper roll, it wouldn’t stick.

If you don’t have any kraft paper on hand, you can also use brown card stock. We found that the kraft paper looks almost identical to the toilet paper roll, so that’s why we used it instead.
