Supplies

Thin cardboard from cereal or tissue box
Paint (we used acrylic paint)
Paintbrush
Yarn
Glue
Scissors
Pencil
Tape
Colored cardstock or construction paper
Apple template (click the “click here to get this freebie” image at the end to open the form)

Directions

Start by downloading the apple template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this apple to life!

Place the apple template on the cardboard, trace it, and cut it out. Paint the apple in 1-2 thin coats of green or red paint. Let dry completely before moving on.

First, guide your child to glue the stem to the top and back of the apple shape.

Next, help your child to tape one end of the yarn to the back of the apple.

Wrap the yarn around the apple in all directions as much or as little as your child wants.

When they’re done, tape the other end of the yarn to the back of the apple and cut off the yarn.

Flip the apple to the front side and glue the eyes near the top of the apple.

Create the apple’s mouth by gluing the tongue to the mouth. Trim off any excess paper.

Finally, encourage your child to glue the mouth in the middle of the apple, just below the mouth.
