Materials

  • Colored card stock in orange and black
  • White card stock
  • Mini blue pom poms
  • Glue stick
  • Puffin template download form located at the end of the page

Instructions

  • Download the puffin template, print it out and cut out all the pieces.
  • Fold a small piece of black card stock in half (make sure it is large enough for the belly piece) and place the belly template on the paper with the flat side of the belly along the fold line. Trace and cut out, leaving the flat part uncut.
  • Glue the white belly piece on the outside of the black belly flap.
  • If you want to write on the inside of the card (without metallic pens), glue another white belly on the inside of the card.
  • Place the puffin's feet on the bottom backside of the card belly and glue in place.
  • Glue the puffin's arms on either side of the belly, on the backside.
  • Take the puffin's face and glue it onto the puffin's head.
  • Position the puffin's beak on the end of the head and glue down.
  • If you want the puffin to be more realistic, skip to step 11. If you want it to look like the arctic puffin from Elf, place the puffin's antenna on the back of the head and glue in place.
  • Place the blue pom poms on the end of the antenna and glue in place.
  • Position the puffin body on top of the head and glue down.
  • Open the puffin belly up and write your special message inside!
