Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Hole punch
  • Brad
  • Pencil template

Instructions

  • Download the pencil template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Begin by gluing the lead tip to the top of the pencil top piece.

  • Glue the completed tip to the front of the book piece.
  • Next, glue the eraser to the bottom of the front of the book piece. Place the metal band above the eraser and glue it in place.

  • Position the book title in the middle of the pencil.
  • Take the blank page or writing page and glue it to the middle of the back of the book piece.

  • Place the two pencil pieces together and hole punch them in the middle of the lead tip. Push a brad through the hole and spread the brad along the back side.
  • Open up and let kids draw a picture or write a sentence!
