Download the butterfly template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
Begin by placing 3 popsicle sticks in a line vertically. Cut a 4th popsicle stick into thirds and stretch a glue dot on each cut popsicle stick. Use these to glue the 3 popsicle sticks in place, positioning one at the top, middle, and back.
Next, paint the popsicle sticks in 1-2 thin coats of paint and let dry completely.
Now, glue the butterfly’s body to the middle of the wing paper. We used glue dots to do this, but you can use liquid glue or a glue stick as well.
Glue the eyes to the top of one end of the popsicle sticks, then use the black marker to draw on a smile below the eyes.
Assemble the wing decorations all over the wings, then glue them in place.
Finish off by cutting 2 small strips of paper in the same color as the body. Glue these to the back of the butterfly wings, by the head, to create the antennae.
