School is starting back up again, which means it's time for kids to delve deep into their creativity! One way to encourage your child's creativity is with this popsicle stick crayon craft.

Materials

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Permanent glue dots
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Colored cardstock
  • Glue
  • Crayon template

Instructions

  • Download the crayon template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Line up 5 popsicle sticks in a row. Cut 2 more popsicle sticks to fit the width of the 5 popsicle sticks. Stretch out a glue dot along each of the cut popsicle sticks and use them to secure the 5 popsicle sticks together.
  • Paint the popsicle sticks in 1-2 thin coats of paint and let it dry completely before moving on.
  • Take the crayon tip and glue the black strip to the bottom of it.
  • Next, take this completed piece and glue it to the top of the popsicle sticks.
  • Place the other black strip and glue it to the bottom of the popsicle sticks.
  • Glue the eyes just below the top black strip.
  • Position the crayon label in the middle of the popsicle sticks, below the eyes.
  • Finish up by drawing a mouth just below the crayon's eyes, in the middle of the popsicle sticks.
