Materials

  • Paper Cup
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glue dots optional
  • Markers
  • Scarecrow template

Instructions

  • Download the scarecrow template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Start by gluing the eyes below each of the eyebrows.
  • Use a marker to draw the triangle nose between the eyes and the mouth.
  • Glue the hair to the back and middle of the scarecrow's head.
  • Next, glue the hat to the top of the scarecrow's head.
  • Optionally: Draw a square patch on the paper cup, then take a black marker and draw stitching lines around the patch.
  • Finish the arms by gluing the straw to the back of the arms.
  • Position the paper cup with the rim facing downward, then glue the scarecrow's head to the top of the cup. We like to use the glue dot for this because there's no drying time, but you can also use a glue stick.
  • Fold a small portion of the inside of the arms, place glue on that section, then glue the arms to each side of the paper cup.
