Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Paper plate
  • Paint optional
  • Paintbrush optional
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Groundhog template

Instructions

  • Download the groundhog template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Decide whether you want the groundhog burrow to look like snow or dirt. If you want it to look like dirt, begin by painting it in 1-2 thin coats of brown paint. Let it dry completely before moving on. If you want it to look like snow, skip to the next step.
  • Take the paper plate and cut the top couple of inches off of the top.
  • Next, glue the hole in the middle and almost to the top of the flat part of the paper plate.
  • Place the groundhog in the middle of the hole and glue it in place.
  • Glue the belly to the bottom and middle of the groundhog's body.
  • Now, glue the tooth in the middle of the mouth line. Alternatively, use a white paint pen or white gel marker to draw the tooth on.
  • Complete the groundhog by gluing the eyes beneath both of the eyebrows.
  • Finish up by gluing the rocks around the front of the hole.
