Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Rooster template

Instructions

  • Download the rooster template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Begin by tracing your child’s hand onto a piece of orange paper and cut it out. Position the handprint with the thumb facing up and the fingers facing to the right, then place the wing in the middle of the palm and glue it in place.
  • Glue the comb to the top of the head.
  • Next, take the eye and glue it just below the comb, near the left edge of the head.
  • Place a dab of glue on the top, pointy party of the wattle and glue the beak to the front.
  • Now, glue the beak/wattle piece just in front of the eye, on the left side of the head.
  • Take the completed head and glue it to the thumb portion of the handprint.
  • Finish off the rooster by gluing the legs to the back of the rooster body.
