When you think of farm animals, what’s one of the first animals to come to mind? For us, it’s the rooster!
Kids always think of roosters crowing in the morning and waking everyone up.
If they’re learning about the farm or birds, this handprint rooster craft is perfect. It’s an easy farm animal craft that’s fun to create.
Because it’s a handprint craft, it’s great for little ones in preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten.

Easy Rooster Craft

Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Pencil
- Glue
- Scissors
- Rooster template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)
Directions
Download the rooster template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
Trace your child’s hand onto a piece of orange paper and cut it out.
Position the handprint with the thumb facing up and the fingers facing to the right, then place the wing in the middle of the palm and glue it in place.
Assemble the rooster’s head by gluing the comb to the top of the head.
Next, take the eye and glue it just below the comb, near the left edge of the head.
Place a dab of glue on the top, pointy party of the wattle and glue the beak to the front.
Glue the beak/wattle piece just in front of the eye, on the left side of the head.
Take the completed head and glue it to the thumb portion of the handprint.
Finish off the rooster by gluing the legs to the back of the rooster body.
That’s it! Simple, right?

Materials

Instructions
- Download the rooster template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
- Trace your child's hand onto a piece of orange paper and cut it out.
