Dr. Seuss’s Fox in Socks is one of the silliest books of all! It’s loaded with fun tongue twisters and crazy characters doing all sorts of things.
We love the main character of this classic book, so we created this Fox in Socks paper bag puppet craft for kids!
It’s the newest addition to our collection of Dr. Seuss crafts for kids. If your kids love Dr. Seuss’s characters, be sure to bookmark this page and come back to it often for all our new projects!
If you haven’t read it yet, the two main characters are the Fox in Socks and Mr. Knox. The tricky fox tries to get Mr. Knox to try to say tons of crazy rhymes with the different characters in the book.

Directions
Start by downloading the Fox template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this Fox template to life!
Have your kids grab the orange piece that will serve as the fox’s body. Show them the bottom of the brown paper bag and explain how this will be where their fox starts to take shape. Guide them in applying glue to the back of the orange piece and carefully positioning it at the bottom of the bag.
Next up is bringing our fox’s character to life with its head. Help your kids apply glue to the top flap of the brown paper bag. Gently guide them as they position the head onto the flap, making sure it’s just right.
Now, let’s give our fox some personality with its eyes. Hand your kids the white pieces that will become the eyes of the fox. Show them where to place these on the fox’s face.
Have the kids apply glue to the socks and place them at the end of both arms.
Finally, it’s time to give our fox some arms. Show your kids the arms you’ve prepared and explain how they’ll be attached to the backside of the paper bag. That’s it!
This Fox in Sock paper bag puppet is so cute!
We’re sure kids will love this fun Dr. Seuss character and will enjoy playing with this puppet craft even after they’ve finished creating it. For more crafts like this, be sure to check out our other animal crafts for kids!
Fox In Socks Craft Notes
When we were making this Dr. Seuss craft, we wanted to make it look as close to the original character as possible. That meant we needed to make the fox have jagged fur, like in the book. We did this, and love the way it turned out!
But, the one downside was that it meant more detailed cutting which may be difficult for younger children.
Once the template is completely cut out, the rest of the craft is easy peasy. It’s just a few pieces to glue together.
We’d recommend cutting out all the pieces ahead of time if you’re doing this craft with little kids. I always sit down at night after the kids are sleeping, and cut out template pieces while watching a show or something so it never seems long or tedious.
If you’re doing this craft and want the kids to cut out the template pieces, be sure to add more time to the prep phase. We would estimate this cutting for ages 8 and up.
