Directions

Start by downloading the ice cream template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity.

Now, it’s time to grab a paper plate and some brown paint. Tell your kids they’re going to transform this ordinary plate into an extraordinary waffle cup. Apply 1-2 thin coats of brown paint together.

Once your paint is dry, show your kids how to trace the template on top of the paper plate and cut it. Then, use the black marker and let them draw diagonal lines to mimic the waffle cone texture.

With the cone ready, it’s time to attach it to the bottom of the ice cream piece. Help your kids spread glue and place it just right.

Guide your children in gluing the mouth just above the cone.

Attach the tongue at the bottom of the mouth and glue it in place.

Then, with the eyes glued above and on either side of the mouth, your kids will see their ice cream friend come to life.

No masterpiece is complete without a cherry on top. Let your kids pick their cherry piece and glue it atop their ice cream.

Paper Plate Ice Cream Craft

 Make this summer extra sweet with our paper plate ice cream craft! It’s a simple and cute project that promises scoops of fun.

Materials

  • Paper plates
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Brown Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Black marker
  • Ice Cream template

Instructions

  1. Download the ice cream template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  2. Paint the paper plate with 1-2 thin coats of brown paint. Let dry completely.
  3. Trace the waffle bowl template on top of the paper plate and cut it out. Use a black marker to draw diagonal lines along both parts of the cone to create the waffle cone design.
  4. Next, attach the cone to the bottom of the ice cream and glue it in place.
  5. Glue the mouth just above the cone.
  6. Position the tongue at the bottom of the mouth and glue it in place.
  7. Take the eyes and glue them above and on either side of the ice cream’s mouth.
  8. Attach the cherry on top of the ice cream using glue.
  9. Finish up by cutting out sprinkles and gluing them to the top of the ice cream section.
