Today we’re sharing this fun bird paper bag puppet craft that will bring joy to kids of all ages.
This paper bag bird puppet is great for units studies on birds, Australian animals, and even just kids who love cockatiels!
Kids can work on their fine motor skills while they’re creating this project. Plus, once they make the puppet, kids can use them to act out animal stories or tell a story of how birds migrate!

Paper Bird Puppet

Supplies
- Brown paper bag
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Bird template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)
Directions
Download the bird template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
Start off by creating the bird’s head by gluing the eyes to the middle of the head.
Position the beak in between and slightly overlapping the bottom of the eyes and glue it in place.
Glue the cheeks on the outside of each eye.
Now, take the completed head and glue it to the flap portion of the brown paper bag.
Place the body of the bird on the main part of the brown paper bag and glue it in place.
Take the wings and position them with the longest part of the wing on the body and the shortest part hanging off the sides. Glue it in place.
Your child is done! We’re sure they’ll have fun with this cute craft.
