Cat In The Hat Craft [Free Template]

Dr. Seuss and his zany books have had a huge impact on children over the years! Every child we know loves them and always wants to learn more about this imaginary world his characters live in.

To celebrate Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day, we’ve made this easy Cat In The Hat craft. It’s a simple Dr. Suess craft kids will have a blast making!

It’s part art, part craft, which means it’ll appeal to lots of different children.

All you need to do is grab some paper, paint, glue, and a few other supplies and you’ll be ready. Not only will this craft help keep the kids engaged, but it’ll also help with fine motor skills!

Printable Cat In The Hat Craft

Supplies

  • Colored cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Red paint
  • Q tip or pencil with eraser
  • Cat in the Hat template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the Cat In The Hat template and print it out on white cardstock.

Using the eraser side of the pencil or a q tip, dip in a small pool of red paint. Make dots all around the top, middle, and bottom portion of the hat.

After finishing the hat, make dots all along the bow tie as well. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.

Once all the paint has dried, cut out the pieces.

Assemble the cat by gluing the body to the front of the cat’s neck.

Place the cat’s white fur in the middle of the body and glue it in place.

Position the bow tie in the middle of the neck and glue it down to secure it.

Finish making the cat by gluing the hat to the top of the head. We pulled the ears forward, on top of the hat as well.

Take the completed cat and glue it to a brightly colored piece of paper.

This easy Cat in the Hat craft is a fun art activity for Dr. Seuss Day! Download the free printable template and make it with the kids at home or at school!

Materials
