What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you see this shark craft for kids???
If you’re anything like us, it’s “Daddy shark do do doo doo doo”. And just like that, you’re stuck with that insanely catchy song in your head for the rest of your life.
Sorry to do that to you. 🙂
With Father’s Day coming up right around the corner, we thought it would be fun to combine the baby shark craze, summer and Dad all in one with this cute shark craft for kids.
Read on below to see how to make this simple and fun craft at home, in the classroom, or at church!

We like this paper craft because it’s easy to use with a variety of ages.
You can easily help your preschoolers and pre-k children make this shark craft with minimal effort. Kids in kindergarten will require less help but may still need assistance cutting out the shark piece (depending on the level of their fine motor skills).
Early elementary children should be able to create their own shark craft without any assistance from parents or adults.
Supplies
- Colored card stock (in shades of blue and gray)
- White card stock (this is my favorite white card stock)
- Blue marker
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick (this one is best for heavy paper)
- Shark template
Directions
If you’d like to use the shark template, enter your email in the form at the end of the post and download the daddy shark template.
There are 2 different templates included in the download.
If you’re making only one card, use the first page which has all the shark pieces on one page. If you’re helping multiple children, print the next template which has each of the different shark pieces (grouped by color) on a separate page. With this template, you can print all the top shark pieces, bottom pieces and teeth on the colored card stock of your choice and let the children cut out their own individual pieces.
There are also 2 different background pages to select from. The first has outlined words so you can print on white card stock and have your child color it in.
The second has black lettering that you can print directly onto blue card stock (this is what is shown in the pictures).
Cut out all three pieces to make your shark.
Place the blue top piece of the shark so it lines up with the top of the white underside of the shark. Glue in place with the glue stick.
Glue the teeth in place over both pieces of the shark’s body, with the edge lining up with the slight indentation on the side of the shark.
Use your black marker to draw an oval eye, the shark’s teeth and two nostrils on the shark’s nose. If you’re using white teeth on the white belly of the shark, you can also outline the mouth with the black marker to make it stand out.
Cover the entire back side of your assembled shark with glue, then glue it onto the card stock background page.
Use the blue marker to make little water lines around the shark.
Admire your adorable Daddy shark!
Ocean Craft Idea For Kids
This shark craft is ultra simple when you use the printable template provided.
We love this art project because it’s easy for kids to make themselves and they can make any colored shark they want!
We made this paper craft in mind to give to Dad for Father’s Day, but you can easily transform it into a simple summer craft for kids by gluing it onto a solid blue piece of card stock as well.
When you use a plain background it makes a great craft project for shark week, ocean unit studies, or under the sea themed birthday parties.
However you decide to use this shark craft, we’re sure your kids are gonna love it!
Don’t forget to enter your email in the form at the end of this post to get the free template.

There is NO form to enter contact information to receive the template? The instructions have a "button" to print; but, no access to the template!

I just checked and it is still there. If you're not able to see it, it most likely means you have a firewall or adblocker blocking it from appearing. If you can allow the page or try from a personal device, you should be able to see it. Also, some readers say they're not able to see it on Chrome, but they can on other browsers. You may be able to try that as well ◡̈ Please let me know if you have any questions!
