How To Make An Eagle With Popsicle Sticks
Start by downloading the eagle template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this bald eagle to life!
Now, let’s line up 10 popsicle sticks side by side. Have the kids count them out loud as they place them down – it’s a great way to sneak in a bit of counting practice! Next, grab 3 more popsicle sticks and cut them down to fit width-wise across the back of the 10 popsicle sticks. Cutting the popsicle sticks needs to be done by an adult. Stretch two glue dots along the 3 cut popsicle sticks and glue them evenly to the back of the 10 popsicle sticks.
Hand over the brushes to the kids and watch as they transform the popsicle sticks with 1-2 thin coats of brown paint.
With the paint dry, it’s time to add some character to our eagle. Guide your kids in gluing the beak between and slightly overlapping the bottom of the eyes.
Attach the head to the body.
Let’s draw some scalloped lines across the popsicle sticks to define the eagle’s body.
Next, position the feet at the bottom and middle of the body and secure them with glue.
If you’re adding tail feathers, this is the moment to flip the sticks over and attach the tail feathers to the back of the popsicle sticks.
The final touch is attaching the wings. Show your kids how to glue them to the middle and back of the popsicle sticks. Their eagle is now ready to soar!
