Quail Paper Craft Idea

While the kids are busy making this sweet keepsake, they can learn more about these foraging birds or name as many Q words as they can think of!
They’ll get to work on their scissor skills and fine motor skills as they trace and glue each piece in place to bring the quail to life!
To make this cute paper craft, you’ll just need a few basic supplies like colored paper, scissors, glue, and a marker.
You probably already have everything on hand to get started! It’s easy to make and comes with a free printable template. This makes the activity handy to make at home, in the classroom, or in daycare.
Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil
- Markers or crayons
- Quail template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to get the template)
Directions
Download the quail template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
Trace your child’s handprint onto a piece of brown paper and cut it out.
Place the handprint with the fingers pointed up and glue the belly to the bottom of the handprint. Trim off the paper that hangs off the bottom.
Glue the head to the top of the thumb, then glue the eye just below the eyebrow.
Next, glue the beak to the right of the eye so that it’s hanging off the right side.
Take the plume and glue it to the top and back of the quail’s head.
Position the wing to the middle of the belly and glue it in place.
Use different colored brown markers to draw lines along the wing and spots on the belly.
Finish up by gluing the feet to the back and bottom of the quail’s belly.
