Earth Day is a great time to involve the kids in fun, hands-on activities. One of our favorites is this handprint Earth craft.
Itโs easy for even the youngest child to do, and itโs a great way to teach them about our planet. Plus, itโs just plain fun!
To make this Earth Day craft, youโll need your childโs hand, some paper, scissors, glue, and our printable template. This easy activity is festive and fun and is another one of our growing list of easy Earth Day crafts for kids.

Earth Day Hand Craft
Celebrate Earth Day with this sweet and simple Handprint Earth Craft! Using a free printable template, kids can create a personalized Earth featuring their own handprints, making it a meaningful and memorable activity.
Read on below to see how to make this Earth Day handprint craft with your kids or students this year.
Supplies
- Colored card stock
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Large pom pom
- Glue dots
- Earth template (click the โclick here to get your freebiesโ image at the end of the post)
Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and letโs help the kids bring this earth to life!
Begin by tracing your childโs handprint on the green card stock. Glue your childโs handprint near the middle of the blue Earth template.

Next, glue the other green land masses around the circle.

Glue the eyes to the middle of the Earth.

Now, gluing the red paper to the bottom of the black mouth. Ensure they trim off any excess red card stock, and then glue it in the middle of the Earth, just below the eyes.

Cut out thin strips of paper and glue them onto the hat base on a diagonal.

Next, use a glue dot to secure the large pom-pom to the top of the hat. After that, simply glue the hat to the top of the Earth.

Place the Earth character onto a piece of dark blue paper and glue it down.

Finish off by cutting small pieces of confetti from multi-colored paper and glue them all along the dark blue background.
