This fox in socks paper bag puppet craft is made for preschoolers through early elementary (ages 3–8) and fits right into your day. Use it after a read-aloud, during literacy centers, or when you’ve got 15–20 minutes and a stack of paper lunch bags to spare.
You’ll need our free printable template, brown paper bags, scissors, and glue. Kids cut and glue, then use their puppet to retell the story or try out those tricky tongue twisters themselves.
If you’re building out a Seuss theme, this project pairs perfectly with the rest of our Dr. Seuss crafts for kids. It keeps the book fresh in their minds and gives them something they’ll want to play with after cleanup.

Supplies
- Brown paper bag
- Colored cardstock (orange & blue)
- White cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Fox template (unlock the image at the end of the post to go to the download page)
Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this fox to life!

First, guide your child to glue the orange jagged-shaped piece resembling the furry body of the Wild Thing. Glue it onto the front of the paper bag, covering the bottom half.

Next, help your child to glue the head to the top portion of the body.

Glue the eyes below the eyebrows.

Now, glue the gloves to the end of the arms

Finally, encourage your child to glue the arms to the sides of the body.
