Easy Handprint Zombie Craft For Kids

Isn’t Halloween time one of the best times of the year?!

Halloween is a fun excuse to get back to being more childlike by dressing up, indulging in a few treats, and doing some fun Halloween crafts!

We recently came up with this cute and easy handprint zombie craft and my boys loved it.

Normally zombies are a bit too, um, gory. You know… They’re covered in blood, brains, and the like. Which isn’t exactly something I want my little one to see.

So instead of swearing off all things zombies, we decided to make this kid-friendly zombie craft that captures the essence of zombies but without all the grossness.

If you have boys or girls at home that love zombies, they’re going to have a blast making this zombie handprint craft.

Read on or watch our step-by-step video to see how exactly to make this simple craft with your children!

Supplies

Directions

Trace your child’s hand onto the green card stock and cut out.

Glue two mismatched googly eyes to the middle of the handprint, with the fingers pointing upward.

Use the green marker to draw undereye wrinkles below the eyes.

Use the black marker to draw nose holes under the wrinkles.

Next, use the black marker to draw on a thick smile line.

On the white card stock, use the black marker to draw rounded rectangles of various sizes. These will be the zombie’s teeth.

Cut along the outer edge of the marker outlines, so the teeth have a black border.

Glue the teeth onto the smile line.

Use the black marker to draw stitches on different areas of the zombie handprint.

You’re done!

Your kids will love this craft since it’s a fun and non-gross way to make a zombie craft.

How Do I Make This Craft In The Classroom?

Although our main focus is providing moms with fun activities and crafts to do with their kids at home, we have a growing number of educators who use these ideas in the classroom.

We love the idea of sharing these activities with even more kids, but sometimes there are different ways to approach these crafts when you’re doing them with a large number of kids.

If you’re doing this craft with very young children who aren’t yet able to use scissors by themselves, you’ll have to keep in mind the help they’ll need.

You’ll need to plan for an adult helper to cut out their handprints during class. You’ll also need to cut out the teeth, but you could have those cut out ahead of time as well. Instead of cutting the teeth individually, you could also use a small square paper punch to speed up the process.

What Will My Child Learn With This Craft?

Although having fun and being creative is a good enough reason to do any activity with your kids, you may be interested to learn that this activity will also help your child with the necessary skills.

One thing this zombie craft helps with is developing fine motor skills. Your child will have the opportunity to work on scissor skills when they cut out their handprints and the zombie’s teeth.

They can also work on proper pencil grasp when they draw all the details on the zombie face.

Finally, they’ll get the benefit of working with glue sticks and positioning the eyeballs on in the exact place they want them.

Hi! This is one of the very few crafts that doesn’t have a template since most of it is based on the handprint size ◡̈ Also, I’m so happy to hear that you’re able to use the ideas! That’s exactly why we created them!!
