Haunted houses are supposed to be spooky, but who says they can’t help kids learn, too? These haunted house tracing worksheets turn early writing practice into a fun Halloween activity for preschool and kindergarten kids. With crooked houses, winding paths, and a big haunted house to color, there’s plenty to keep them interested!
And since those early pencil skills take lots of repetition, having fresh themes really helps. Our free printable tracing worksheets for kids have more activities that let kids practice drawing lines and forming letters without doing the same worksheet over and over.

Haunted House Tracing Activities
In this set, kids can trace straight, wavy, and zigzag paths from one haunted house to another. They’ll also practice writing uppercase and lowercase Hh before tracing the outline of a tall, crooked haunted house. That last page is especially fun because they get to color the house however they want. Purple walls and glowing yellow windows? Absolutely!
Those winding paths might look simple, but staying on the dashed lines takes some real concentration. As kids work through each page, they’ll strengthen pencil control and hand-eye coordination. The letter tracing page also helps them become more familiar with writing Hh, which fits perfectly with the Halloween theme.
The best part for parents and teachers is that there’s hardly any preparation involved. Just print the pages, grab some crayons or pencils, and they’re ready for an October morning activity or handwriting center. You can even laminate the line tracing pages for repeated practice with dry erase markers.
Trace The Haunted House
An unfinished house is just waiting for preschoolers to connect all of its broken lines. Tracing encourages concentration as kids stay on the path to complete the picture. Then comes the best part: they can use their favorite colors to make the haunted house look any way they want.

Hh Letter Tracing Practice
A creepy haunted house at the top sets the scene for some Halloween alphabet action. Hh letter recognition gets a boost every time kindergartners trace both its uppercase and lowercase forms, helping them become more familiar with its shapes. Before long, Hh may start popping up at them in books, signs, and other places.

Line Tracing Practice (2 Pages)
Can your trick-or-treaters make it from one haunted house to the other without losing their way? Here, they can trace straight, curvy, zigzag, and wiggly lines, giving them plenty of opportunities to build hand-eye coordination. And with two pages to tackle, there are plenty of paths to follow and more chances to make their lines neat and precise.

Halloween Books For Kids
Room On The Broom: This has to be one of our favorite Halloween books of all time! The story follows a witch and her cat as they happen upon some animals who help the witch. There’s danger, mystery, and friendship in this adorable children’s story.
The Good, The Bad, And The Spooky: Halloween is the Bad Seed’s favorite holiday, but when he can’t come up with the perfect costume, he decides trick-or-treating should be postponed for everyone! Kids will love following his funny quest to find a show-stopping costume before the big night. With plenty of humor and Halloween fun, this is a great seasonal read for fans of The Bad Seed and the Food Group series.
Ten Timid Ghosts: This is a fun countdown book about a witch who moves into a haunted house where 10 ghosts already live. The witch scares the ghosts out one by one until they devise a scheme to get her out of their house. This Halloween children’s book is good for kids who love rhyming stories!

Fun Halloween Creature Crafts
Frankenstein Puppet Craft – Frankenstein’s monster looks a lot less scary with a big goofy grin! Kids can turn a simple paper bag into a green monster with wild black hair, neck bolts, and a jacket. And because it’s a puppet, they can make him talk and act out their own silly monster stories afterward.
Handprint Witch Craft – Can we talk about how perfect handprints are for making witch hair? Kids trace their hands onto orange paper, then use the cutouts to give their witch long, finger-shaped locks beneath her pointy hat. It’s such a cute way to turn their own handprints into a Halloween keepsake.

Mummy Pumpkin Craft – Who knew a pumpkin could look so funny wrapped up like a mummy? Kids glue paper bandages across a pumpkin face, leaving its eyes peeking out between the strips. They can even tear their own paper strips instead of cutting them, which makes each mummy look a little different.
Zombie Cat Puppet Craft – A zombie cat sounds like it should be terrifying, but this one is much more silly than scary! Kids assemble their kitty’s face and attach the pieces to a paper bag to make a movable puppet. I can already imagine the ridiculous zombie cat voices they’ll come up with during pretend play.
Spooky Season Printables
Candy corn dressed up for Halloween? Yes, please! These candy corn coloring pages feature candy corn characters wearing costumes, including a mummy, vampire, and witch. The designs have plenty of open space, so preschoolers can enjoy coloring without getting frustrated by tiny details.
Sometimes a Halloween worksheet should feel more like a game than schoolwork. Our Halloween theme printables include letter mazes where kids hunt for specific letters to find their way through. There’s also a Frankenstein emotions activity that gives kids a chance to talk about different facial expressions. I especially like that one for starting conversations about feelings..

A werewolf that helps kids learn their letters? That’s a pretty good trade-off! These Halloween worksheets include an activity where kids cut and paste labels onto a friendly werewolf. They’ll also find an Hh letter maze, which makes a great companion to the haunted house tracing pages.

I think matching games are underrated, especially when kids have to look closely at the pictures. Our Halloween activity pages include a shadow matching worksheet where kids pair Halloween characters with their silhouettes. There’s also a pumpkin maze for kids who enjoy following a path to find their way to the finish.
