Supplies
- Jumbo popsicle sticks
- White yarn or string
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Orange craft foam
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly eyes
- Scrap of fabric
- Black buttons
- Baker’s twine (optional; for making into an ornament)
Directions
Glue the three popsicle sticks together by squeezing a thin line of glue between each stick and pushing them together. To reinforce these sticks, cut smaller sections of popsicle sticks and glue them horizontally along the back of the 3 sticks. Let them dry completely before moving on.
Paint the ends of the dried popsicle sticks white and let dry.
Use the white yarn to wrap the entire middle section of popsicle sticks, leaving only about .5″ of popsicle sticks exposed. Tie it to the back.
Cut a strip of fabric or use a ribbon and tie it around where the penguin’s neck would be.
Cut out a triangle nose from the orange craft foam for the snowman’s nose. Glue this slightly above the scarf.
Take the googly eyes and glue them right above the orange nose.
Position two black buttons beneath the scarf, in the middle of the popsicle stick snowman and glue into place.
Optional: If you want to turn this craft into a DIY ornament, take your baker’s twine, make a loop and glue it to the back of the snowman.

Ways To Use This Craft
This popsicle stick snowman craft is super fun to make, but don’t let it stop there!
As we mentioned above, you can use some string to make this snowman into an ornament. These make a sweet and thoughtful Christmas gift to give Mom and Dad or grandparents! Just wrap them up in a little tissue paper and they’re ready for gifting!

If you don’t want to use them as an ornament, they’re also great for playing with! Let your child use them as little toys or put on a puppet show with them. You can even add another popsicle stick on the bottom half to act as the handle for the puppet!
You can also make playtime educational with your young kids by asking them things like:
- How many buttons does the snowman have?
- What color is the snowman’s scarf?
- What shape is the snowman’s nose?
- Where do you think a snowman lives?
This will get their minds turning and will help them work on critical thinking, sentence formation and more. Plus, they won’t even know they’re learning!
That’s a win-win if you ask us!
