Rocket Popsicle Stick Craft For Kids [Free Template]

Kids love space and crafting so why not add the two together and make this fun rocket popsicle stick craft!

This is one of our favorite rocket activities for kids that’s a little bit different than the standard paper crafting.

This project is great for kindergarten and elementary children and it comes with a free printable template to make it simple to recreate.

Craft Stick Rocket

Supplies

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Scissors
  • Glue dots
  • Glue
  • Paint (we use acrylic paint)
  • Paintbrush
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Rocket template (enter your email in the form at the end of this post to have the link sent to you)

Directions

Download the rocket template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.

Take 2 popsicle sticks and cut them into 2″ lengths. Line up 5 popsicle sticks to form a rectangle, then using the glue dots, attach the cut popsicle sticks onto the top, middle, and bottom of the rectangle. If you prefer, you can also use hot glue to attach it together.

Paint the popsicle sticks in 1-2 thin coats of paint. Let dry completely before moving on.

Begin to glue the rocket together by gluing the tip to the top of the rocket.

Next, create the windows by gluing the window to the window frames. Take the completed windows in glue them in the middle of the rocket.

Create the bottom of the rocket by gluing the flame to the back of the engine. Place the completed engine to the back and bottom of the rocketship and glue it in place.

Finish off the rocket by gluing the fins to the bottom of each side of the rocket base.

Materials

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Scissors
  • Glue dots
  • Glue
  • Paint we use acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Rocket template

Instructions

  • Download the rocket template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Take 2 popsicle sticks and cut them into 2" lengths. Line up 5 popsicle sticks to form a rectangle, then using the glue dots, attach the cut popsicle sticks onto the top, middle, and bottom of the rectangle. If you prefer, you can also use hot glue to attach it together.
