Lots of parents realize coloring pages are a quick, cheap, and easy activity to keep kids entertained, but not as many understand the benefits of coloring for kids.
Besides exercising their creativity in choosing colors for their picture, kids can develop lots of additional skills parents might not be aware of.
For very young children (think toddlers and preschoolers), coloring is one of the best ways to work on fine motor skills. While coloring, kids can work on the pincer grasp and further develop hand muscles.
Children can also use coloring to strengthen their imagination and planning. When you give a child a blank coloring page, they’re faced with limitless possibilities of colors, combinations, and ideas.
Another wonderful skill kids learn from coloring is patience. This is usually a skill older children will cultivate, but often younger kids will have greater focus when coloring too.
Along with patience, kids who complete their coloring page often feel a greater sense of accomplishment in themselves. This feeling helps kids build their confidence in themselves and their abilities.
