Supplies

Directions

Start by downloading the parrot template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this bird to life!

First, guide your child to glue the eye patch and the eye on the head part of the bird.

Next, encourage your child to draw two diagonal lines to the top portion of the eye patch. This will be the patch strap.

Now, help your child glue the black hat to the top portion of the bird’s head.

Position the skull and crossbones in the center of the hat and glue it in place.

Place the beak in between and just below the eyes and glue it in place.

Now, glue the feet to the lower portion of the body.

Glue the top part of the wings to the bottom part of the wings. Repeat for both sides.

Next, glue the wing feathers to the side of the body.

Finally, glue the tail to the back and bottom part of the body.

Pirate Parrot Craft

Keep the little ones entertained this summer with this colorful pirate parrot craft. Kids will have loads of swashbuckling fun as they create their vibrant feathered friend complete with a pirate hat and patch!

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Ruler
  • Parrot template

Instructions

  • Download the parrot template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  • Begin by gluing the eye and eye patch on the parrot's head.
  • Next, draw the leather strap above the patch that goes from one side of the parrot head to the other side of the head.
  • Now, glue the black hat to the head.
  • Position the skull and crossbones to the center of the hat and glue it in place.
  • Place the beak in between and just below the eyes and glue it in place.
  • Now, glue the feet to the lower portion of the body.
  • Glue the top part of the wings to the bottom part of the wings.
  • Next, glue the completed wings to the side of the body.
  • Finish off by gluing the tail on the back and bottom part of the body.
