The arctic is an amazing and beautiful environment and wintertime is the perfect time of year to teach kids about the animals that live there.
One of the best animals to begin teaching kids about is the majestic polar bear!
Kids are naturally drawn to this massive animal, so it’s easy for them to learn all about the polar bear.
Today we’re sharing this easy polar bear paper bag puppet craft. It’s a simple winter animal craft that comes with a free printable template.

Supplies
- White paper bag
- Colored card stock (in pink, black and gray)
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- .25″ circle punch
- Polar bear puppet template
Directions
Download the polar bear paper bag template, print, and cut out the pieces.
Glue the face piece to the top of the paper bag flap.
Place the gray muzzle in between the eyes and glue in place.
Glue the black nose in the middle of the gray muzzle, then use the black marker to draw the mouth.
Use the circle punch or scissors to cut out the cheeks from the pink card stock. Glue in place under the eyes. If you don’t have a circle punch you can also use a pink marker to draw on the cheeks.
Glue the pink inner ears to the white outer ears.
Place the completed ears behind the top of the paper bag flap and glue to secure it.
Position the gray belly onto the main portion of the white paper bag and glue in place.
Line up each arm on either side of the paper bag and glue in place.
Use the black marker to draw the footpad onto the polar bear’s feet.
Glue the finished feet onto the bottom of the paper bag.

Who do you think is bigger – you or a polar bear?
All of these questions will get your child to start thinking, analyzing, and learning about polar bears!
After you’ve read a polar bear book, you can ask if they have any questions you can answer, then dive right into this paper bag polar bear craft.

Polar Bear Paper Bag Puppet Craft
This winter season, make this cute and easy polar bear paper bag puppet craft with the kids!
Materials
- White paper bag
- Colored card stock (in pink, black and gray)
- Black marker
