Summer Ice Cream Craft
Kids will build an ice cream cone that’s ready to chill on the sand in a pair of stylish sunglasses using some colorful paper, scissors, glue, and a bit of creativity. Add some ocean waves and seashells for the perfect summer scene.
Along the way, kids will strengthen their scissors skills, practice spatial awareness, and learn how to follow simple directions, all while having fun with this summertime theme. It’s a great way to sneak a little learning into their day.
Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Ice cream template (click the “click here to get your freebies” image at the end of the post)

Directions
Start by downloading and printing the template. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this ice cream to life!

First, guide your child to glue the ice cream scoop to the top of the cone.

Give the ice cream some personality by gluing the sunglasses above the mouth.

Next, help your child glue the inner lens pieces to the sunglasses for dimension.

Now let’s create the fun beach scene! Place the wavy ocean piece on the background paper and glue it down.

Glue the second blue wave below the first wave.

Position the sand below the last wave and glue it in place.

Now, glue the ice cream to the center of the beach background.

Finally, encourage your child to glue the seashell beside the ice cream cone.
