What makes this goose especially cute is that he’s not just dressed up for the holiday. He’s got something to say, too! Kids can write down what they’re thankful for on the sign, whether that’s their family, a favorite pet, or even pizza. There are no wrong answers here!

While kids are busy putting their goose together, they’ll get some practice cutting out shapes, gluing pieces in place, and writing their answers. It’s a nice way to work on fine motor skills and handwriting without making it feel like another school assignment.

The simple paper pieces make this a manageable project for early elementary kids, and the finished geese would look adorable on a Thanksgiving bulletin board. Plus, it’s always interesting to see what kids come up with when you ask them what they’re thankful for!

Thanksgiving Books for Children

Turkey Trouble – If you’ve never read this book, you have to add it to your holiday collection! It’s so cute and fun and kids just love it! Follow the turkey around the farm as he disguises himself as different animals so the farmer doesn’t catch him for Thanksgiving dinner!

How To Catch A Turkey – Kids who love the How To Catch books will want to see all the crazy contraptions kids make to try to catch a turkey loose at the school!

Pete The Cat: The First Thanksgiving -Every Pete the Cat book is fantastic, but this one takes it up a notch with flaps for the kids to open. It’s a great way to get the kids excited about reading and Thanksgiving!

Festive November Crafts for Home or Classroom

Chef Turkey Disguise: Apparently, this turkey has decided that the best way to avoid becoming Thanksgiving dinner is to help cook it! Dressed in a chef’s hat and coat with a spoon in hand, he’s ready to get to work in the kitchen. Kids can use the printable template to make their own turkey chef, and it’s a funny addition to any disguise-the-turkey project.

Thankful Pumpkin Craft: One thing to be thankful for is good, simple craft ideas, and this pumpkin fits right in! Instead of just decorating a pumpkin, kids write things they’re grateful for on little paper leaves. I like that they can add more than one answer, especially since it’s not always easy to pick just one favorite thing.

Turkey Handprint Craft: There’s something about handprint crafts that makes them worth saving, especially when those little hands won’t stay little forever. This turkey uses kids’ handprints to make a colorful Thanksgiving decoration. It’s the kind of craft you can pull out a few years later and remember just how small their hands used to be.

Scarecrow Headband Craft: Why make a scarecrow to hang on the wall when kids can wear one on their heads? This little guy has a friendly face and a straw-covered hat that’s perfect for fall. The printable template makes it easy to put together, and I can just imagine a classroom full of kids wearing their scarecrow headbands!

Thanksgiving Math and Literacy Printables

Sometimes all you need is a set of dot markers and a few cute turkeys to keep kids happily occupied! These turkey do a dot printables let kids fill in circles while practicing counting and recognizing the letter T. There’s something pretty satisfying about stamping those colorful dots, especially when they start filling up the whole turkey.

With Thanksgiving coming up, it’s nice to have a few quiet activities ready for those moments when kids need something to do. These Thanksgiving worksheets include a turkey handwriting page, a cornucopia letter maze, and a pattern activity. They’re a good way to sneak a little learning into the holiday without pulling out the usual schoolwork.

Who says math has to be all numbers and plain boxes? These Thanksgiving graphing worksheets have kids counting pictures of things like pies, pumpkins, and pilgrim hats, then coloring boxes to show how many they found. It’s almost like a little picture hunt, except they’re practicing counting and graphing along the way.

Finding a path through a maze is already fun, but what if kids have to find the right letters to get through it? That’s the idea behind these Thanksgiving letter mazes. Kids search for matching uppercase and lowercase letters to create a path through each puzzle. It’s a clever way to practice letter recognition, especially for kids who enjoy figuring things out on their own.
