Maize Craft

Introduce children to harvest season by having them make this a-maize-ing piece of art. It will have them exploring color patterns and developing fine motor skills. Plus, it’ll be a blast for them to dot the colorful kernels onto the corn!

This craft is fantastic for young kids because it’s simple, mess-free, and requires minimal supplies. To get started, grab the free template, gather some dot markers, and get started.

Supplies

• Colored cardstock or construction paper
• Glue stick
• Scissors
• Paint
• Corn template (unlock the free template at the end of the post)

Directions

Start by downloading the template and printing it out. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this corn to life!

First, guide your child in using the dot marker all around the corn piece. Let dry completely before moving on.

Next, glue the husk to the sides and front of the corn.

Place the mouth in the center of the corn, just above the husk and glue it in place.

Now, help your child glue the tongue to the bottom portion of the mouth.

Position the eyes above the mouth and glue them in place.

Finally, encourage your child to glue the silk to the top and back portion of the corn.
