Even though it doesn’t feel much like winter here in Arizona, we know the rest of the country is feeling chilly!
That’s exactly why we recommend spending a day inside with the kids making this cute toilet paper roll penguin craft!
This is a fun recycled craft that’s great for a winter animal craft theme or just because!
Be sure to download our free printable template and watch our quick video tutorial to see exactly how we made these little guys!

Winter Animal Ideas
If you’re like us, you may have thought penguins were arctic animals, but it turns out they’re not! They actually live in the Antarctic and surrounding areas, so we suggest putting them in your winter animal themed unit instead.
One of our favorite ways to introduce an animal or theme to the kids is by reading books! We all know how valuable reading is to our kids, so grab some of these top rated penguin books on Amazon or reserve them from your local library.

If your child enjoys using dot markers, they’ll want to try out these winter do a dot printables. These printables are great for reinforcing counting, learning the alphabet, patterns, and more.

These winter I spy printables are another simple activity that’s great to do at home or on the go. Laminate them and use with dry-erase markers to make them reusable!
Have some open-ended play time with this snow slime or this snowflake senory bin.
