Supplies
- Paper egg carton
- Black buttons
- Small piece of fabric
- Paint
- Paint brush
- Scissors
- Glue
- Orange foam sheet or cardstock
- Glue dots (optional)
- Pom Poms
- Googly eyes
- Bakers twine (optional)
Directions
Use the scissors to cut out a three-well section from the egg carton. Paint this section of the egg carton white and let dry completely.
Cut out a small strip of fabric of your choice. Ours measured 1.5″x 13″. Wrap it in between the first and second wells and tie to make it look like a scarf.
Glue the two small, black buttons on each of the bottom wells.
Use markers to draw the coal mouth and rosy cheeks.
Cut out a triangle carrot nose from the orange foam sheet. Glue it to the middle of the top well, just above the smile.
Position the googly eyes on the top well and glue them in place.
Make the snowman’s earmuffs by cutting a small strip of pipe cleaner and bending it to form a half-circle. Attach this to the top well with glue or a glue dot (we prefer the glue dot) so it goes from side to side by where the snowman’s ears would be.
Glue a small pom pom on top of the pipe cleaner, on either side of the snowman’s head with liquid glue or a glue dot.
Optional: If you want to make this snowman craft into an ornament, use the baker’s twine to make a loop and glue it to the back of the snowman’s head.
Isn’t that the cutest recycled Christmas craft you’ve ever seen?!
This recycled snowman craft is equally as fun to use as a simple craft or for making as a keepsake ornament!
If you do this egg carton craft at school or daycare, they would make a fantastic homemade Christmas present for Mom and Dad or grandparents!

Adapting This Craft For Young Children
We believe you can do almost every craft with kids of all ages!
Got a toddler? We have a few tips to simplify this craft for them.
One, have the snowman pre-painted white and let your toddler draw on the eyes, nose, and mouth instead of gluing them on.
Two, skip the scarf and pom pom altogether or help your child glue them in place.

Three, you can use glue dots to easily secure the buttons to the snowman if your little one isn’t quite ready for liquid glue.
All of these tips will help your toddler feel included and allow him or her to make a fun Christmas craft with the family!
A preschooler will be able to do most of the steps with just a little adult assistance, but feel free to use any of the suggestions above as well!
We know your child will have a blast and will work on valuable skills when they make this cute snowman craft!
