During the holiday season, one of our favorite characters never fails to steal the hearts of children everywhere – the Grinch!
Your little ones can step into the shoes of the Grinch himself with their own Grinch photo craft! Kids can bring the Grinch to life with their own photo, complete with movable arms and legs that they can strike into various poses.
This is the perfect Grinch Christmas project for kids of all ages to make during the month of December! They’ll have so much fun creating this cute keepsake using a few simple materials.

Grinch Kids Craft

After watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas during your next family movie night, make plans to create this personalized project with the kiddos. You’ll just need a handful of basic supplies, our free printable template, and a photo of your little one’s face to get started.
It’s such an easy idea for little hands to make, and a fun way to bring some holiday cheer into your home!
To turn your Grinch photo into an ornament, just attach some ribbon or twine to the back and hang on the tree!
Supplies
- Photo of your child
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Hole punch
- Brads
- Ribbon or twine (if making it into a Grinch ornament)
- Grinch template (click the “click here to get this freebie” image at the end to open the form)
Directions
Start by downloading the grinch template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this butterfly template to life!
First, guide your child to place the Santa hat at the top of the child’s photo and glue it in place.
Next, glue the collar to the bottom of the child’s photo.
Take the Grinch coat piece and punch holes in all the circles. Punch the holes in the circles on the arms and legs as well.
Place the brad through the shoulder hole and then through the arm piece.
Next, help your child to attach the legs to the Grinch’s body by pushing the brad through the Grinch’s coat and then through the leg pieces. Open the brad to lay flat along the leg and body. Repeat with the other leg.
Finally, encourage your child to glue the head to the top of the body.
