This activity will encourage their imagination and encourage them to think outside the box when they see how their handprints can be used—like for a fluffy gnome beard!
Download our free Christmas gnome template and gather a few basic supplies to get started. Kids will be excited to make cute holiday decor to proudly display, and you’ll love the sweet keepsake it provides.
Supplies
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Christmas gnome template (unlock the image at the end of the post to go to the download page)
Directions
Start by downloading the template and printing it out. Once the template is printed, gather the materials for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring the gnome to life!
First, encourage your child to glue the eyes below the eyebrows.
Next, glue the nose on top of the mouth.
Position the hat on the top of the head and glue it down.
Now, help your child glue the Christmas lights around the red hat.
Trace your child’s hand onto white paper two times and cut them out. Position the fingers pointing down and glue the two handprints together. Place the head on the palm portion of the handprint and glue it in place.
Attach and glue the hat pom to the end of the hat.
Glue the shoes to the bottom portion of the body.
Next, glue the Christmas ornament to the center of the body.
Now, glue the arms on both sides of the Christmas ornament.
Finally, guide your child to glue the head to the top of the body.
