Creating the puppet encourages children to practice their fine motor skills and scissor skills as they cut and glue the pieces together. Going step by step also helps kids to practice following directions, and their finished product makes playtime fun using their imaginations.
All you need is a paper bag, a few basic supplies, and our free template. We’ll guide you through each step right down to creating Little Red’s iconic hood.
Supplies
- Brown paper bag
- Colored cardstock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue

Directions
Start by downloading the Little Red Riding Hood template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this puppet to life!
First, encourage your child to glue the face to the center of the hood.
Next, guide your child to glue the eyes next to the eyelashes.
Now, attach the hair to the top portion of the face and glue it in place.
Take the ribbon and glue it to the bottom of the hood.
Place the head on the flap portion of the paper bag and glue it in place.
Next, take the dress and glue it to the main portion of the paper bag.
Help your child to glue the apron to the center of the body.
Take the cape and place it on top of the apron and glue it in place.
Finally, glue the arms to the sides of the cape.

Instructions
