To go along with reading the fun book, they can create this James Dean book companion paper craft with just a few basic supplies.

So put on your hiking boots, download our free template, grab the art supplies, and get ready for some crafty fun with the kids. They’ll create a Pete the Cat masterpiece that’s a great project to do at home, in the library, or in the classroom.

Supplies

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pete template (click the “click here to get this freebie” image at the end to open the form)

Directions

Start by downloading the Pete template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this DIY to life!

First, encourage your child to glue the inner eyes to the outer eyes.

Next, guide your child to glue the eyes to the middle of Pete’s head, with one on each side of the head.

Now, glue the nose just below the eyes in the middle of the face.

Help your child take the arms and glue them to the back of Pete’s body, near his upper torso.

Position the walking stick in one of Pete’s hands and glue it in place.

Finally, glue the hiking boots to the bottom of both legs.
