Ingredients
- Sugar cookie dough
- White frosting
- Black Fondant
- Pink Fondant
- Orange Fondant
- Red Fondant
- Yellow Fondant
- Brown Food Coloring Gel
- Yellow Food Coloring Gel
- Candy Eyes
- Candy Mustaches
Directions
- Roll out the sugar cookie dough and use an egg shaped cookie cutter to make the potato head body.
- Bake according to the recipe and let cool completely.
- Make the potato heads’ body color by mixing the white frosting with the brown and yellow food coloring until you make a light brown color.
- Use an offset spatula to evenly frost the cookies, making sure to leave an edge all the way around the cookie.
- Place two candy eyes about 1/3 of the way down the top of the cookie.
- To make Mrs. Potato Head’s nose, roll a piece of pink fondant into a 3D triangle (reference the photo for shape). Do the same for Mr. Potato Head, but this time use the orange fondant to make the nose.
- Create Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head’s ears by cutting a small circle out of the pink fondant, then cutting that circle in half. Using your fingers, round the edges and place the ears slightly outside the eyes of each character.
- Using the yellow fondant, roll out two small balls. Place on Mrs. Potato Head’s ears to act as her earrings.
- Take the candy mustache and place it directly beneath Mr. Potato Head’s nose.
- Make both character’s mouths by rolling a medium sized piece of red fondant into the shape of a snake. Bend into an oval for Mr. Potato Head’s mouth and into a lip shape for Mrs. Potato Head.
- Place a thin oval of black fondant underneath Mr. Potato Head’s mustache, then place his mouth onto of it.
- Roll out a thin piece of black fondant, then cut out the shapes of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head’s eyebrows (see the photos for shapes).
- Roll a large piece of black fondant into a rectangle, then shape it into a hat for the Mr. Potato Head cookies.
- Frost the very top of the Mrs. Potato Head cookies with the white frosting to make her hat.
- Create a flower for Mrs. Potato Head’s hat by rolling five small balls of orange fondant and one small ball of pink fondant. Press them into the shape of a flower, then place the flower in the middle of Mrs. Potato Head’s hat.
- Enjoy!
