Kids can create either a boy or girl pirate out of a paper bag with the help of our free template. This creative activity offers developmental benefits such as improving fine motor skills, enhancing hand-eye coordination, and encouraging imaginative thinking.

Once your little ones have finished their pirate puppets, they’ll be ready to narrate their own tales of treasure hunts and sea battles.

Directions

Start by downloading the pirate template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this pirate to life!

First, guide your child to glue the eyes in the center of the face.

Next, place and glue the eye patch over the pirate’s left eye.

Now, draw the strap on top of the eye patch.

Position the hair to the top portion of the head and glue it in place.

Place the skull and crossbones in the center of the black hat and glue it in place.

Next, help your child glue the black front part of the hat to the bottom of the white, back part of the hat.

Create the shirt by gluing the white stripes along the shirt. Trim off any paper that hangs off the sides.

Now, encourage your child to glue the shirt to the main portion of the paper bag.

Place the pants below the shirt and glue them in place.

Glue the shoes at the very bottom of the pants.

Place the arms on the side of the shirt and glue them in place.

Finally, glue the head to the flap portion of the lunch sack.

Materials

  • Brown paper bag
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Pirate template

Instructions

  1. Download the pirate template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  2. Begin by gluing the eyes to the center of the face.
  3. Next, place the eye patch over the pirate's left eye and glue it down.
  4. Now, draw the strap on top of the eye patch.
  5. Position the hair on the top portion of the head and glue it in place.
  6. Place the skull and crossbones in the center of the black hat and glue it in place.
  7. Next, glue the black front part of the hat to the front and bottom of the white back part of the hat.
  8. Create the shirt by gluing the white stripes along the black shirt. Cut off any paper that hangs off the sides.
  9. Now, glue the shirt to the main portion of the paper bag.
  10. Place the pants below the shirt and glue them in place.
