Directions

Start by downloading the butterfly template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this butterfly to life!

First, encourage your child to glue the eyes below the eyebrows.

Next, guide your child to glue the antennae to the top and back of the butterfly head.

Take the middle wing pieces and help your child glue it to the center of the back wings.

Position the front wing pieces to the center of the middle wing pieces and glue them in place.

Fold the back wings along the dashed lines.

Place the wings on both sides of the headband and glue them in place.

Finally, place the headband extenders on both sides of the headband base and use tape to attach them.

Your little ones will love to get creative by making this butterfly headband craft. Personalizing their butterflies with their favorite colors is one of the best parts! 

Materials

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Butterfly template

Instructions

  1. Download the butterfly template, print, and cut out the pieces you need.
  2. Begin by gluing the eyes below the eyebrows.
  3. Next, glue the antennae to the top and back of the butterfly head.
  4. Take the middle wing pieces and glue them to the center of the back wings.
  5. Position the front wing pieces to the center of the middle wing pieces and glue them in place.
  6. Fold the back wing pieces along the dashed line. This is where you'll place the glue.
  7. Take the completed wings and glue them on both sides of the headband base.
  8. Finish up by placing the headband extenders on both sides of the headband base and tape them together.
